RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CHOOSING A PLATFORM FOR SITE BUILDING

Many teachers use blogs. The following platforms are being used by teachers.


Blogger (Google) provides many connections to other Google Products (Picasa for photos, Google Sites (another place to create sites), many Gadgets that can be useful for teachers.    Once a user establishes a Gmail account, the doorway to Google.

If you create a blog site you may be able to use it as a sample of professional thinking made public. It can be practice for exploring and using blog sites both personally and professionally. The site you create can be helpful in exploring the use of blogs with students in the classroom.  In some cases teachers who have demonstrated talent using blogs have been asked by administrators to lead other teachers in using technology.  


Some teachers have chosen to use Edublogs.

Each year Edublog published award winners in many categories.

Other teachers, especially language arts and English teachers have used Wordpress.

Weebly Sites are a great option for teachers as well. (One disadvantage, you can create two free sites.  More requires a subscription cost.

More teachers are using Blogger and Weebly.  You will get more creative ideas from other teachers in the future if you choose to use one of these two options and explore them now in this course. 

Google Sites
Google Sites are a great option for teachers, however, they are more complex in building and creating.

Another option is a Wix Site.  It is free, easy to use and is even being advertised on television.  I recommend this site for personal use.  There will be many more resources as a future teacher if you choose to Blog or use Weebly Sites.
